Reporting to the Chief of Research, the incumbent will be responsible for providing scientific leadership to the Virology program by developing grant proposals for supporting research in the Virology lab and supervising staff in the programme.
Specific duties includes;
- Review of virology grant proposals for scientific merit before eventual approval and submission for funding
- Develop annual work-plans for the program and oversee their implementation
- Participate in day-to-day scientific activities including project implementation, dissemination of research results and coordinate of collaborative projects with a virology component.

Requirements for Appointment
- A PhD degree in any relevant area of biological sciences, but with specializing in virology.
- Outstanding scientific insights in either: immunology; vaccinology; molecular biology; biochemistry, proteomics/genomics or any other related field.
- At least three (3) publications in refereed journals or two (2) publications and I chapter in scholarly books.
- Must demonstrate evidence of continuing research activity.
